Cuisinart ICE-100 Compressor Ice Cream and Gelato Maker Review
Let’s have a look at the features of the Cuisinart ICE-100:
- Fully automatic with a commercial quality compressor. 1-1/2-quart ice cream bowl capacity
- Dimensions: LWH: 16.00” x 12.00” x 9.00”. Weight : 32lbs
- 2 paddles – a gelato paddle for authentic gelato and an ice cream paddle for creamy ice cream
- 60-minute countdown timer with touchpad controls and a blue LCD readout
- 10-minute keep cool feature keeps your ice cream or gelato cool after timer has gone off
There is a transparent, twist lock lid, with lift up window to pour in your ice cream batter or to add in your favourite chunky bits before the ice cream has finished processing.
Gelato and sorbet bases should be no more than 1 quart and ice cream bases should be no more than 5 cups, when preparing to make your desert. Freezing increases the volume of the mixture and you don’t want your ice cream spilling over the sides causing more of a clean up.
5 mins before your finishing time you can add in any favourite ingredients you like, this gives it a chance to get them mixed all the way through the ice cream. There is also a 10 minute keep cool feature which kicks in at the end of process, if you can’t get to it immediately.
At the end of the process, spoon the ice cream into a container and store in the freezer, it might be a little awkward getting it off the paddle, but I’m sure you will find someone to help you clean it up properly. This is the fun of having an ice cream maker machine for home use.

Customer Opinion
Good Points
AMAZING Ice cream maker! Love this thing! Makes a batch of ice cream in about 40 minutes, the consistency right out of the machine is similar to soft serve, of course you have to freeze it longer if you prefer your ice cream more frozen. Its a great machine though and works perfect!
I finally got myself a Cuisinart ICE-100. We love it no more storing the ice bucket in the freezer all the time, no more planning a day ahead so I can make and pre-chill the ice cream base.
If you read the easy to follow instructions, this makes the best ice cream!
Bad Points
I must have received a defective item because I have tried to make ice cream 4 times and nothing happens.
NOISY! Takes forever. Ice cream isn’t as good at cheaper hand crank models.
Poor product design. Ill-fitting bowl and terrible customer service.
Verdict
This Cuisinart ICE-100 comes in with a 4.4 star rating out of 5. There are no bells and whistles on this machine, you set it to your time and press go, maybe this is a good thing as there is less to go wrong. The majority of reviews are good though, people are having great results. We think this might be the best compressor ice cream maker in it’s price range.
We think for the price of this unit, if you want a compressor type of ice cream maker, we would recommend the Cuisinart ICE-100
