Cuisinart Ice-30BC Overview
The Cuisinart Ice-30BC is a frozen bowl type of ice cream maker, it’s similar to the Ice-21 with a bigger bowl. If you’re looking to make a larger batch of ice cream then this is a good choice. Lets have a look at the main features:

Once you have a recipe that you like to make, that actual process of making the ice cream is simple when you have a machine like the Cuisinart Ice-30BC.
Double-insulated 2-quart freezer bowl
This Ice-30bc has a 2 quart capacity which is a good amount of ice cream to eat and store. The way this machine works is by using a freezer bowl to make the ice cream inside. The freezer bowl is double walled with a freezing liquid in between, you need to freeze the bowl for about 24hrs before you want to make your ice cream, so keeping it in the freezer allows you to be ready. This is a large bowl which measures 7 3/4 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall so you need to make sure that it will actually fit into your freezer before you buy it. Keeping it at the back of the freezer will keep it at the coldest point and help it get cold enough. You know it is properly frozen if you can shake the bowl and not hear the liquid moving within the walls of the bowl.
Brushed Stainless-steel Housing
The brushed stainless-steel housing looks very smart and would fit in any other kitchen equipment when standing on the worktop. The difference between this base and the Cuisinart Ice-21 apart from it not being made of white plastic is the fact that the base is taller and the part where the bowl sits inside is deeper. What works better with this design is that the frozen bowl sits deeper into the base with less area open to the outside, helping to keep the cold in the bowl as long as possible while you mix up your ice cream. The base has a heavy-duty motor that can cope with churning the ice cream as it gets thicker with ease.

Once you have added your bowl from the freezer, your paddle for mixing the lid sits on the top to secure them both. It has a large ingredient spout so that you can easily pour in your ice cream mixture as soon as you turn on the machine, this helps to stop it from building up on the sides of the bowl.
As soon as your ice cream starts to thicken up which is easy to see through the transparent lid you can start adding your mix-ins. This is individual to your taste but the most common are chocolate chips, nuts or pieces of fruit. You would just add these into the ingredient spout as it is churning and it will automatically mix it in evenly. You need to wait until the mixture starts to get thicker so the add-ins don’t drop to the bottom of the ice cream although you don’t want to wait until it gets too thick as it won’t be able to churn so easily to mix them properly.

The Cuisinart cool creations Ice70 can make the same volume of ice cream but to make things easier and more automatic Cuisinart have included a control panel. The Ice-30bc only has an on off button, the Ice-70 has 4 buttons on the panel, 3 selection buttons and a start button. The selections are ice cream, gelato and sorbet. To make your dessert you add your freezer bowl in the machine and add the paddle and lid. Choose the dessert you want to make, if you’re making ice cream and you press that button it will automatically come up with 25 minutes on the timer, press this then start and then you can add your ice cream mixture to the bowl through the spout in the lid. If you want to make gelato, the timer is for 30 minutes and the paddle turns slower to incorporate less air as gelato should be a more dense ice cream. The sorbet is set to time for 40 minutes.
Countdown timer with auto shutoff
The timer on the Cuisinart Ice-70 pre-set with times for the different desserts but you do have the option of adjusting that with the arrow buttons up to 60 minutes if you find that you need it to run a bit longer with your recipe than the suggested time. The timer automatically starts to run down giving a warning beep every 5 minutes so you don’t forget about it. It will turn off automatically after the time is over. This is great if you’re doing other things and don’t want to be sitting over it all of the time, although you will need to be aware when it finishes so you can dish up the ice cream or put it in a container before it starts to melt.
Improved paddle and integrated measuring cup
The Ice-70 comes with an improved paddle which contributes to quicker completion time, it is used in the same manner as most of the Cuisinart ice cream makers which is to sit in the bowl and be held into place with the lid while the bowl turns around it. The transparent lid has also been improved by adding a measuring cup, which is handy for measuring the amount of add-ins you want to put in but is also useful at preventing outside heat coming into the machine while it is processing. It is easy to remove to add ingredients then it can quickly be put back until the ice cream is ready.
Cuisinart Ice-30BC vs Ice-70
Sometimes it is difficult to compare 2 similar machines, especially when they offer the same type of results. We’ve had a look at some things that are pros for each product so we’re going to have a look at the cons of each of these machines to see if that can narrow things down a bit.

When looking at the Cuisinart Ice-30BC vs Ice-70 the Ice-70 definitely has more features than the Ice-30bc but are they worth the extra cost?
